New York, NY - December 17, 2008 - Shari Addison, the first runner up on Black Entertainment Television's "Sunday Best" is a musical powerhouse that has captivated audiences around the world, establishing herself as an exceptional vocalist who delivers heart wrenching performances. She dazzled viewers over the course of the nine week competition, and will continue to do so with the release of her self -titled CD SHARI ADDISON on January 13, 2009
Produced by Percy Bady (Whitney Houston, Yolanda Adams), Daniel Weatherspoon ( Darwin Hobbs , Lonnie Hunter) and Donald Lawrence (Tri-City Singers, Hezekiah Walker), SHARI ADDISON is an album that happened - in her own words - "all in God's timing." "This album includes some of the heaviest hitters in Gospel music. I'm so grateful that God gave me ‘A' players and anointed producers for this CD. These giants in Gospel music lent their songs and production credits to the project."
SHARI ADDISON is a fiery mix of contemporary and traditional Gospel music. An album that delivers a complete dose of hope and motivation, Shari says "this CD is so relevant; it's a project that will meet people wherever they are. All of the songs are me, but it's a multi-faceted me and exposes many different layers of my faith. It's uplifting and encouraging and I believe that no matter what's going on during your day, there's something that will minister to you."
The Kevin Bond produced first single "No Battle, No Blessing," is a personal testimony that every listener will find comforting, as Shari fervently sings "Every burden. It is a battle. Every heartache. It is a battle. Hold on, the battle is not yours." "Shari Addison is a name that the national and international community of believers will come to recognize and enjoy for years to come," says Bond. "The raw power of her voice, coupled with the weight of her testimony, will leave an indelible impression on all who are blessed to experience the depth of her anointing."
Shari puts a new twist on the powerful James Cleveland classic "Please Make Me Better;" while "Whateva" is "just a funky song," says Addison . "Sometimes Christians need to hear something with a beat, but still with a Godly message." Written by Shari and co-written by Percy Bady is the passionate "He Does All Things Well." A ballad of gratitude, Addison powerfully belts, "He does all things well, all things are well. Everything that concerns me, I place it in his hands. For he does all things well concerning me."
When asked of the breakout success that served as the turning point in her career, Shari says, "Sunday Best was not a competition, but a blessing and ministry. I have music that's for the church goers, but at the same time, I have music that's for those who weren't born and bred in the church. Through this project, I want people's faith to be restored. I want to let them know that dreams have no expiration date. But most of all, I'm encouraging them to hold on until God brings them through."
